Green Tree Court shortlisted for a hat-trick of national awards

Staff at Exeter’s Green Tree Court nursing home are celebrating after being shortlisted for three prestigious titles at the National Care Awards. The team joins the elite of the care home sector hoping to scoop the top awards in the Care Home of the Year, Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year, and Care Chef of the Year categories. Winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony in London on 30 November 2018.

Michelle Gorringe, Managing Director of Lexicon Healthcare, commented: “I’m thrilled that our innovative approach and the tireless dedication of all our staff has been recognised by our being named finalists in this trio of awards. Our goal at Green Tree Court is to provide exceptional, person-centred care in exceptional surroundings. Hearing positive feedback from our staff, residents, and their friends and family is always the most significant proof that we’re achieving what we set out to. But getting this recognition in these very important industry awards also makes us very proud.”

Helen Rushton, Green Tree Court’s Home Director, added: “We’re delighted to have reached the last stage in each of the award categories that we entered. All the categories are important, but these are especially important to us. Being a finalist in the Care Home of the Year category is something that all our staff, whatever they do, have played a part in. We work together to provide the very best levels of comfort and clinical care to our residents. Being recognised in this category is a testament to the tremendous effort put in by everyone at Green Tree Court.

“We’re also delighted that Jon Wartnaby, our Kitchen Manager and joint Head Chef, has reached the final in the Care Chef of the Year category. He follows in the footsteps of our other Head Chef, Tim Ware, who scooped this prize in 2016. Good food is essential for health and wellbeing, whether you’re living in a nursing home or not. His commitment to using fresh local ingredients creatively helps our residents to enjoy living well, and that’s essential for well-being.

“And lastly, being shortlisted for the Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year is of the utmost pride to us. We believe that dignity and respect is a fundamental right, although it is not always given the priority it deserves. At Green Tree Court we aim to change that, with training given to all staff to ensure dignity and respect is at the forefront of everything we do.”

The National Care Awards are organised by Caring Times magazine and have been devised to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, by highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care. The winners will be announced at a celebration dinner at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel on 30 November 2018. The gongs will be presented by actor James Nesbitt.
