On Tuesday, Green Tree Court ‘s 2018 ‘Star Awards’ candidates celebrated with a presentation hosted by owner and Managing Director, Michelle Gorringe RN.

Attended by a sea of proud spectators, each winner who was previously nominated by Green Tree Court residents, residents’ family members, or by other members of staff, received an award for their contribution to the excellent standards Green Tree Court is proud to foster. The event is held annually, and celebrates the special efforts of those who work among our wonderful residents.

This year’s winners were as follows…

Star Award for Clinical Excellence Winner: Gemma Perrott

Gemma was voted winner for delivering a personalised approach to clinical care.  When we asked Gemma what she loved most about working at Green Tree Court, her response was, “It’s a family.” One nomination said of Gemma: “When giving out medication, Gemma takes time to chat and engage which is really appreciated. Nothing is too much.”

Star Award for Dignity in Care Winner: Sue Lapka

Our occupational therapist, Sue Lapka, has been with us since we opened. Sue is thought highly of by everyone and achieves amazing results.

One nomination described her as the “Ultimate professional who continually promotes dignity in then home”.

Star Award for Excellence in Dementia Joint Winners: David Barenskie and Sue Thorne

Sue has been with Green tree Court for over three and half and absolute gem of a carer on Willow. She can be relied upon by everyone and knows her residents so well. Home Director, Helen Rushton, described her as the “epitome of person-centred care.”

Head of Dementia Care, David Barenskie, also won the award. “David excels in his work. His compassion overflows and his passion for his work is infectious!”  one nomination wrote.

Star Award for Joy of Life Winner: Jordan Bammens

Jordan has a warm approach with residents. Described as “a ray of sunshine”, nothing is ever too much to ask. She is passionate about her role, and takes a genuine interest in the residents’ lives.

Head Chef, Tim Ware and the kitchen staff prepared a special afternoon tea along with a star-shaped cake to mark the occasion.

Home Director, Helen Rushton said, “I’m very proud of all the nominees and winners of this year’s awards. They are all deserving and I look forward to seeing them continue to enrich the lives of those who live here.”

As part of their prize, the winners will be attending either the National Dementia Awards in Brighton on 8th November or the National Care Awards in London on 30th November. We look forward to hearing how they get on!
